Apple Maps has replaced “Lake Ontario” with “Lake America” on its web service, following an executive order signed by President Donald Trump. The change appeared on September 1, five days after the White House directed federal agencies to adopt the new name. Apple said its map was updated after the U.S. Geographic Names Information System changed the official federal entry. The company commonly draws from government geographic databases, alongside its own mapping information and licensed sources, when assigning names to natural features.
