Human mobility data expand ecological analyses of people’s impact on wild animals Lydia Beaudrot1,2 F or the past 125,000 years, the expansion of human populations has been associated with the extinction of many species (1). Ongoing population growth and increasing per capita consumption of resources cause landscape changes that lead to habitat loss and fragmentation, which decrease biodiversity (2). Although landscape modification has been used as a proxy for overall human disturbance, human presence per se also has impacts on wildlife (3–6). On page 879 of this issue, Oliver et al.
