A buried volcanic formation on the Moon’s far side is offering fresh evidence that our nearest celestial neighbor once generated its own magnetic field. By combining gravity measurements with magnetic observations, researchers have reconstructed a subsurface structure that appears to preserve a record from roughly 4.2 billion years ago.
