repebble.com/watch Eric Migicovsky, the creator of the first smartwatch – the Pebble, in 2012 – is back. After selling Pebble to Fitbit in 2016, which led to the development of the Fitbit Versa and ultimately Google’s Pixel Watch after Google’s Fitbit acquisition, Migicovsky convinced Google to open source the original PebbleOS and return the Pebble trademark to him. The new Pebble Time 2 retains the minimalist essence of its past predecessors. It features an always-on 64-colour e-ink display that’s readable in most well-lit conditions with an RGB backlight for when in the dark.
