Marco Perez had never built a mobile app before this winter. Seven weeks later, the 27-year-old Chicago software engineer had released InfoDrizzle, a news-organizing app that attracted more than 1,300 downloads and produced about $500 in profit. His second attempt moved faster. Stampa, which turns photographs into digital postage stamps, took roughly a week to create and reached 20,000 downloads, generating around $3,000 in profit.
