MetallURGY Strain- induced fully coherent triphase nanoarchitecture in refractory high- entropy alloys Yu Zhang1,2, Zhiqiao Li1,3, Jin Xie4, Xiaojun Zhao1,2, Houwen Chen1,2*, Yunzhi Wang5*, Jian- Feng Nie6* We report the formation of a fully coherent, self- assembled, three- dimensional (3D) triphase nanostructure in an equiatomic HfNbTaTiZr alloy processed by conventional routes of arc melting, solution treat- ment, and isothermal aging (29). The resulting architecture exhibits mesocrystal- like characteristics, in the sense that it consists of periodi- cally arranged and crystallographically aligned nanocrystals (30, 31), while arising from a fundamentally different formation pathway. …
