Apple’s expanding U.S. manufacturing footprint gained another boost as GlobalWafers Co. began production at its new $4 billion silicon wafer facility in Sherman, Texas. The plant marks one of the most significant domestic semiconductor materials investments in recent years and strengthens the supply chain behind advanced chips used in Apple devices. The Sherman project has been years in the making, first announced as part of a broader push to localize critical semiconductor materials.
