A singular creation from Josh Safdie, co-written with his regular comrade Ronald Bronstein (who worked on all the Safdie brothers collaborations), he is quite the cocktail: an unashamed hustler drawn from real table-tennis players, from Safdie and Bronstein’s imagination, and from Safdie’s own life. Tying it all together, though: dreams. “I think dreams are infectious,” says Safdie. “They drive humanity.” Safdie is a lifelong dreamer — and table- tennis die-hard.
