LUC BESSON’S DRACULA (out from Signature) and Natasha Kermani’s Abraham's Boys (streaming on Shudder) have had their titles amended since their initial release, so you'll now find them named Dracula: A Love Tale and Abraham's Boys: A Story Of Dracula. Both diverge radically from Bram Stoker — Abraham's Boys is based on a short story by Joe Hill — in ways which don't always work, but do provide surprises. Besson builds his film around Caleb Landry Jones’ pale-faced Prince Vlad and takes more from Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula than the book, though most of the really good things in the film are wildly original. …
