The nuttiest of Enid Blyton’s endeavours, the Magic Faraway Tree books follow a group of kids discovering said tree, scaling its heights and entering magical lands. There they meet a host of bizarro characters, among them Dame Washalot, Moonface and Saucepan Man. It’s a charming, ridiculous and very British universe, so who better to give it its inaugural big-screen treatment than Paddington 2 co-writer Simon Farnaby.
