Their huge facilities, data flows, and computing resources are a natural fit for AI ADRIAN CHO W hen President Donald Trump created the gov- ernmentwide Genesis Mission in November 2025 “to unleash a new age of AI- accelerated innovation and discovery that can solve the most challenging problems of this century,” some ob- servers were skeptical of the grandi- ose initiative, which the Department of Energy (DOE) will lead. But many scientists at DOE’s 17 national labora- tories are eager to participate.
