Bill Skarsgård was in the middle of a post- Nosferatu break when he got the offer to play Tony Kiritsis in Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire. Based on a true story from 1977, the film follows a man who took the president of his mortgage company hostage with a wire looped between himself, the trigger of a sawn-off shotgun and his hostage’s head. “I tend to always go back to ’70s movies for inspiration,” says Skarsgård, who knew what he really wanted to do after Nosferatu was the kind of film he’d been watching during his time off: “A character-driven piece with two actors stuck in a situation.” …
