It’s pet-friendly (twenty-pound limit), boasts a con- cierge and doorman, and even offers on-site parking. The location is envi- able, just two blocks west of Union Square: great trains, great restaurants, and very walkable. A 782-square-foot one-bedroom rents for $5,900 a month. The building’s most notorious resi- dent has lived there since 1977, and his rent probably hasn’t changed much from the $650 he paid back then. He runs an electronics-repair business out of the apartment and, in his free time, looks after injured squirrels, sometimes giving them baths in the building’s laundry room. …
