Virgin Galactic has pushed the return of commercial spaceflight into 2027, extending a pause that began after VSS Unity completed its final mission in June 2024. The company had previously expected its first new Delta- class spacecraft to begin revenue-generating operations during the fourth quarter of 2026. The revised schedule places the first commercial research flight in early 2027, with private astronaut missions expected to follow later. Before carrying paying customers, the spacecraft must complete ground checks, captive-carry exercises, glide flights and powered tests at Spaceport America in New Mexico.
