Buying a new device has traditionally ended with a simple expectation: once the installments were paid, it belonged to the buyer. Apple Upgrade introduces a different relationship. The new United States program lowers monthly payments by treating much of the hardware lineup as a lease, with Klarna retaining ownership during the agreement. The service covers eligible iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac models. Phones and watches can be leased for 12 or 24 months, while tablets and computers come with 24- or 36-month options. At the end, a customer can return the device, move into another lease or make a final payment to purchase it.
