DoorDash is preparing to operate delivery aircraft under its own name after receiving federal certification for an in-house drone service. The new program, called DoorDash Air, moves the company beyond arranging deliveries performed by Dashers or outside aviation partners and into designing, operating and coordinating its own aerial fleet. The Federal Aviation Administration has granted DoorDash Part 135 air-carrier certification, making it the eighth drone operator in the United States to receive that status. The approval provides a regulatory foundation for commercial flights, although individual launches will still depend on operating permissions, suitable facilities and the rules governing each location.
