As a child actor (in the likes of Grange Hill and The Bill) turned prominent member of UK garage-collective So Solid Crew, Ashley Walters had his (plus another ‘21 Seconds’) before he turned 20. That’s when it all went wrong. For the first time, anyway. In 2002, he pleaded guilty to carrying a loaded firearm and was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders’ institution. Upon release, Walters returned to acting, just in time to ride the mid-’00s ‘urban thriller’ wave of hard-hitting social dramas and blatant yoofsploitation flicks. …
