ACROSS THE PAST few years, Adria Arjona has been building up a roster of characters you might call survivors, or women who have absolutely had it. In projects like Andor and Blink Twice, she’s been bloodied, beaten and betrayed, and fought her way out of near-certain death. Onslaught adds to that collection with a woman who will do whatever’s necessary, and kill whoever necessary, to protect her daughter. Arjona says she likes characters who are “messy”. And things in Onslaught get really messy. Onslaught is the work of director Adam Wingard, who made his name with throwback horror like You’re Next and The Guest, but has spent the past decade adapting other people’s stories — Blair Witch, two Godzilla/Kong movies. …
