After more than two decades of effort, however, the piezoelectric properties of PT- based textured ceramics remain substantially be- low their theoretical potential (9, 21). For example, in the classical Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3- 0.30PbTiO3 (PMN- PT) system, the highest reported d33 for textured ceramics is ∼1300 pC N−1, which is only 50 to 60% of the single- crystal value for the same composition (2000 to 2500 pC N−1). This persistent gap stems from the intrinsic microstructural charac- teristics of textured ceramics, including grain boundaries with low piezoelectric properties, incomplete grain alignment, and domain size confinement by grain boundaries (21–23). …
