King LIFE ON THE OCTOPUS FARM | Visiting Osaka, Japan, journalist Richard Schweid sampled the city’s famous dish, takoyaki, a small ball-shaped food made with wheat flour, tempura scraps, pick- led ginger, and green onion “with a small piece of boiled octopus tucked into its center.” The im- mensely popular dish, which Schweid deems de- licious, is featured in more than 600 restaurants and stalls in Osaka, and its reputation is growing outside of Japan as well. Baseball fans in Los An- geles may now buy it from refreshment stands at Dodger Stadium, for instance. …
