Amphibians are experiencing the most severe extinction crisis among vertebrates, with 41% of species threatened globally (1). Africa alone harbors 1170 amphibian species, representing 15% of global amphibian diversity, with 99% endemism and an average 37% of species under threat of extinction (up to 55% in some regions) (1, 2). Both the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the African Union’s Biodiversity Action Plan 2023–2030 have called for coherent amphibian conservation policies and integrated spatial planning (3, 4), but these calls have yet to be heeded efficiently. Despite Africa’s extensive protected-area network, amphibians remain weakly integrated into protected-area planning and manage- ment tools, with only 12 documented amphibian-specific action plans (5–7). …
