Yogesh Shelke, Anpuj Nair S, Hanumantha Rao Vutukuri* We present a combined experimental and active Brownian dynamics simulation study to unravel the collective dynamics of polar self- propelled colloidal rods. In this study, we systematically investigated how shape-induced alignment, arising from steric, hydrodynamic, and phoretic interactions, governs their collective behavior. By indepen- dently varying the rod aspect ratio and area fraction, we identified a sequence of phases including swarming, active turbulence, flocking, phase separation, large clusters, and jamming. We consolidated these results into a state diagram that maps these phases as a function of rod aspect ratio and concentration of active rods. …
