I've been feeling terrible; this first year of motherhood is one of the hardest times in my life. It has crushed me like a lorry load of bricks, shattering everything. The fog of sleep deprivation, monotony and hopelessness, difficult days giving way to even harder nights. My baby won't be put down or held by anyone else, and only wants me. Completely alone, abandoned in the darkness. But in the woods, I feel alive again. I am connected to the earth, grounded and solid. I belong here.
