Elon Musk believes Starlink could become the principal carrier of global internet traffic within the next 10 years, an ambition that would transform the satellite network from a solution for hard- to-reach places into part of the world’s basic communications infrastructure. Speaking during SpaceX’s first earnings call as a public company, Musk said it was possible that Starlink would eventually deliver a majority of the world’s internet, at least in countries where the company is permitted to operate.
