Starlink Mobile is preparing to grow from a useful emergency connection into a far more capable network in the sky. SpaceX expects its dedicated satellite-to-phone constellation to number in the thousands by 2028, supported by a new generation of spacecraft designed to deliver greater speed and capacity directly to ordinary handsets. The company had about 650 dedicated mobile satellites in orbit at the end of March. Those first-generation spacecraft already provide texting, light data and internet-based voice services, reaching roughly 7.4 million distinct devices each month across around 30 countries.
