DESPITE A CAREER spanning seven decades, actor-director Richard Benjamin doesn’t dwell on the past. “Once in a while something will come up if I have lunch with friends of my age,” says Benjamin, now 87. “Once in a while there’s no escape on TCM. We might be flipping by and say, ‘Well, look at that,’ and it’s one of my movies or one of Paula’s (Prentiss, Benjamin’s wife).” And once in a while Empire shows up to reminisce. “It’s kind of nice,” he admits. “So much of it was really pleasurable; you get to be with some extraordinary people.
