ust before sunrise on Sunday 19 April, most residents in the Cedar Grove neighbourhood of Shreveport, Louisiana, were asleep. But around 5.55am, gunshots were fired at a family home on Harrison Street, shattering the peace. Responding to a knock on her door, Christina Snow, 31, was shot three times by her ex-partner, 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, who then took their three children and left. Critically injured, Christina would eventually manage to get Siri to call the emergency services, but before then, they would receive another frantic 911 call. Keosha Pugh and her 12-year-old daughter Mar’Kianna were on the roof of a house on West 79th Street, just a block away from Christina’s home. …
