In the news Virginia’s death was ruled a homicide AS A MAN ONCE n July 2025, residents in Fanwood, New Jersey, woke to find 70-year-old William Ahle, clothes scorched and skin burned, insisting he had run into his neighbour’s home after spotting flames while walking his dog. He looked every inch the accidental hero – though, tragically, 82-year-old Virginia Cranwell did not survive the late-night house fire. Neighbours spoke warmly of Ahle’s quick thinking and her family publicly thanked him.
