Voice cloning and live deepfakes make scam calls more dangerous. These tips can help you identify AI con artists. STEFFEN ZELLFELDER reports In the past, phone scammers often gave themselves away with their poor English, a crackling line or implausible stories. Today, the situation is different: modern AI can mimic voices with uncanny realism and even manipulate live video calls. Just a few seconds of audio from a video or a voice message is enough for fraudsters to impersonate relatives, friends or colleagues.
