Nvidia has acknowledged a major shift in the global AI semiconductor landscape, with CEO Jensen Huang stating that the company has “largely conceded” China’s AI chip market to Huawei. The admission reflects the growing impact of U.S. export controls, which have significantly limited Nvidia’s ability to sell advanced chips in the region. China had previously represented a substantial portion of Nvidia’s data center business, making the shift both strategically and financially significant. EXPORT CONTROLS RESHAPE THE MARKET The turning point came with expanded export restrictions imposed by the United States, requiring licenses for the sale of advanced AI chips to China.
