GREGG ARAKI HAS never been afraid of controversy. Since his 1987 microbudget debut, Three Bewildered People In The Night, his films have explored the nihilistic, hyper-sexual underside to queer teenage life, in all its youthful confusion. In his ‘Teen Apocalypse Trilogy’ — Totally F***ed Up (1993), The Doom Generation (1995) and Nowhere (1997) — he puts wild sex, cartoon violence and alienation to the fore, drenching his worlds in pop-art colour and stylised chic.
